Ajax runs along Lake Ontario, with waterfront trails and parks, a GO station, and quick access to Highway 401. Most of the town was built out through the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, so you’ll mostly find two-storey family homes on standard suburban lots, with some older streets near the lake and newer pockets in the north.

I’m Andrew Shevtsov. I’ve been in real estate for 14 years and have helped sell 120+ homes across North, Central and East GTA. Ajax and Pickering are two of my core markets, and I’ll give you a straight read, not a brochure.

Ajax neighbourhoods at a glance

  • South Ajax and the waterfront (Discovery Bay, Paradise Beach and the Pickering Beach Road area): lakeside streets, the Waterfront Trail on your doorstep, and some of the town’s higher-priced homes.
  • Central Ajax, Central West and Pickering Village: established streets close to the GO station and the older part of town. Yes, Pickering Village is in Ajax. Nobody planned it to confuse you.
  • South East and South West Ajax: established family streets where bungalows and raised bungalows often come up, which matters if you’re thinking about downsizing.
  • Northwest and Northeast Ajax: the newer subdivisions in the north, with larger and more recent homes.

Not sure where you fit? Tell me what you’re leaving behind and what you want next, and I’ll point you to the streets worth walking.

If you’re selling in Ajax

  • Price it right on day one. Marketing can’t rescue a wrong price. I’ll show you the comparable sales so you can see how we got there.
  • Negotiation is the part I like best. Another agent once described me as “like a dog with a bone” when I’m on a file. I’ll take that.
  • Sale and next purchase planned together. Many of my sellers are also buyers, so we plan both at once. If that’s your question, read Should I buy first or sell first?

If you’re buying in Ajax

I’ll find the homes that fit, tell you honestly which ones don’t, and negotiate on your behalf. My job is to make sure you never feel overly discouraged or overwhelmed, whatever the market is doing. Thinking of a smaller home? See downsizing in Pickering and Ajax.
